What is a SpecRecord?
A cryptographically sealed, publicly verifiable record of a single wood floor install. It captures every reading, photo, signature, and jobsite condition at the moment the job locks — and cannot be changed afterward.
What does "sealed to a public blockchain" mean?
When you lock a job, we compute a cryptographic fingerprint of the entire record and submit it to OpenTimestamps, which anchors the fingerprint into the Bitcoin blockchain within hours. Anyone in the world can independently verify — using open-source tools, no SpecRecord involvement — that the record existed exactly as it does today at that moment. If someone alters the record later, the fingerprint stops matching.
Who can see my SpecRecord?
Only you and the property owner, by default. When an NWFA claim is filed against a property, credentialed NWFA inspectors and the NWFA board can pull the record via Off-Record. Every access is logged and visible to you.
What does it cost?
NWFA members get the first 5 SpecRecords free. After that: $49/mo platform access + one-time bundles ($89 for 5, $449 for 50, $899 for 150, $2,250 for 500). Credit card required at sign-up. See pricing.
Do I need special hardware?
No. SpecRecord works with any calibrated pin moisture meter and thermo-hygrometer you already own. Ambient-logger CSV import (Wagner Rapid RH, Floor Cloud, Climit, or any generic CSV with a Timestamp + Temp / RH column) is built in — the app auto-detects the source and applies the latest reading to the job.
What languages does it support?
The mobile app, certificate viewer, and PDFs render in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, and Haitian Creole. Homeowners can view certificates in their preferred language regardless of the language the installer captured in.
Can I gift SpecRecords to another contractor?
Yes — buy a bundle and choose how many records to gift. The recipient gets a redemption code they can apply at sign-up or in their billing settings.
What if a homeowner disputes a locked record?
They can't alter it — that's the whole point. Disputes about installation quality (not about the record) route through the NWFA claims process. Inspectors pull the sealed record via Off-Record to review actual conditions at install time.
